JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The political action committee of the state’s largest farm organization has endorsed southwest Missouri congressman Roy Blunt in his run for the U.S. Senate.

The Missouri Farm Bureau invited both Blunt and Secretary of State Robin Carnahan, the Democrat running against him, to speak with its assembled regional PAC delegations before the groups caucused to determine their endorsements.

Carnahan sent a letter to Missouri Farm Bureau President Charles Kruse Thursday night saying she would not be able to appear. She also did not fill out a questionnaire that was mailed to her. Blunt’s completed questionnaire was provided to meeting participants.

“I appreciated getting the letter; we’re very disappointed that she wasn’t here today and quite frankly disappointed that we didn’t have the questionnaire back,” Kruse told reporters Friday. “Any candidate has to asses everything that they’re doing and make their own priorities.”

Candidates from the Libertarian and Constitution parties were not invited to address the forum.
