JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Five gaming companies hope that the number 13 is lucky for them as they vie for the last riverboat gaming license in the state.
With the number of riverboat gaming licenses capped at 13, the license vacated earlier this summer when the President Casino on the St. Louis Riverfront closed became a hot ticket as gaming companies bid for what may be the last license issued for quite some time.
Voters in 2008 backed a proposal to freeze the number of riverboat gaming licenses at 13 in a statewide vote.
