Oklahoma lawmakers have passed several bills the past few years aimed at consolidating duplicative state agencies. One area that has not been discussed much is Oklahoma’s two medical schools: OU’s Health Sciences Center in Oklahoma City which offers MD degrees and OSU’s Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa which offers DO degrees (OU also has a College of Medicine in Tulsa where 35 students go for their last two years of school). But Oklahoma Watchdog compiled a list of all of the public universities with medical schools and found Oklahoma is one of only two states with a population under four-million that have more than one medical school

Continue reading …A legislative candidate is backing away from a fundraiser he was scheduled to have with controversial rocker Ted Nugent on May 10 in Omaha. Nugent was supposed to be the main attraction at Sen. Colby Coash ’s fundraiser, which his opponent, Kyle Michaelis criticized in light of Nugent’s history of “hateful, political rhetoric.” Nugent was recently questioned by the Secret Service for comments he made at the National Rifle Association ’s convention about President Obama ’s administration, which he called vile, evil and “America-hating.” Nugent said if Obama is re-elected, “I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year.” Michaelis called on Coash to denounce Nugent’s rants, but Coash did not initially back down. But today he said via Facebook , “I am no longer asking Ted Nugent to speak in a public way on my behalf, but to instead engage personally with his fans who want to meet him.” “I am sensitive to those who disagree with Ted’s views and my friendship with him
